A key issue many artists face is the difficulty of reaching an
audience. With a limited supply of gallery space, the demand is
inevitably high, and artists frequently find themselves in a ‘catch 22’
situation whereby they can’t get a gallery show unless they have already had a
gallery show!
Our aim at Tribe is to augment the traditional gallery
scene (where by a few individuals make decisions as to whom sees what). We have
adopted a hybrid offline/online gallery model that offers extensive exhibition
and selling space to overlooked artists who otherwise may never be seen by
anybody other than those close to them.
The Tribe is a digital arts membership platform that integrates a set of
specialist online social networking, portfolio and collaborative
communication tools with a comprehensive eCommerce web gallery
providing ’prints on demand’. The difference between Tribe
and the myriad of other online galleries is our belief in the value of real prints
and so we regularly published offline paper based, curated ‘exhibitions’ which are
collectable in themselves and become a series of a ’exhibitions in your
hands’.
